Overview
West Ing was a project similar to ones we’ve done many times before.
This involved taking down a load-bearing wall between a kitchen and dining room to create a large kitchen/dining/living area.
As with other projects, the team managed the build while liaising with long-standing partners and subcontractors, including the structural engineer, building control officer, electrician and plumber.
The clients were living in the property, so minimising disruption was a key priority. A programme was developed in consultation with the client to ensure that a working kitchen was reinstated as quickly as possible. With the clients away on a two-week holiday, this window was used to complete the most disruptive elements of the work.
By the time the client returned from their holiday, all the structural and disruptive work was completed. Everything fell into place and the project ran to the programme exactly.
It was great to see the transformation, and with the addition of a wood burning stove, it really created a wonderful space to be in.
