About us
Founder, Andrew Calvert, began his career in construction at an early age, working alongside his father, David Calvert, a time-served and fully qualified builder. In 2001, aged just 16, Andrew started an apprenticeship at Darlington College while also gaining hands-on experience working with a local building firm. After completing his NVQ, he was awarded Fellmongers Apprentice of the Year.
Following further construction qualifications, awarded with merit, Andrew went on to establish his first business in 2008, Calvert & Jenkinson Ltd, alongside a business partner. The company successfully operated for 18 years, earning an excellent reputation for high-quality craftsmanship throughout the Dales.
In 2026, with both partners choosing to pursue independent ventures, Andrew established Calvert & Co Construction, continuing his commitment to quality building and retaining many of the same trusted and highly experienced team members.
Throughout his career, Andrew has worked alongside many skilled craftsmen, developing extensive knowledge and expertise in traditional building techniques and the unique requirements of working within a National Park. This experience enables Calvert & Co Construction to deliver a wide variety of projects to an exceptional standard, while remaining sensitive to historic and rural properties.
Having lived and worked in Swaledale his entire life, Andrew has built a strong network of experienced, specialist, local subcontractors. This allows Calvert & Co Construction to offer a complete turnkey service – managing projects from concept to completion with professionalism, clarity and attention to detail.
We have built an excellent reputation throughout the Dales, with the majority of our work coming from recommendations and repeat clients. This reflects our commitment to quality, reliability and customer satisfaction.
